Open Access in Media Studies is maintained and curated by Jeroen Sondervan and Jeff Pooley, and in close collaboration with the European Network for Cinema and Media Studies (NECS). The website and blog aim to inform about and promote open access publishing in the field of media studies.

Jeroen Sondervan has over 10 years of experience working in scholarly publishing. He has been a commissioning editor film & media studies for Amsterdam University Press from 2007 until 2016. For over 8 years he has been working on open access journals and monographs. He is an active participant in the national (Netherlands) and international open access movements. He is a member of the Knowledge Exchange Open Access Group, the Open Access working group of the Dutch Library consortium (UKB), and editor of the national platform

Jefferson Pooley is Associate Professor Media and Communication at Muhlenberg College, USA. He writes on the history of social science, scholarly communications, and social media and the self.
